The Roe Family 1612-Present

​The Roe family has many roots in Osgathorpe and the family can be traced back as far as 1612. During the mid 19th Century, William Roe, born in 1807, was living in Osgathorpe with his wife Ann and their only son James, and was working as a farm labourer. Next door to William lived his mother Mary, a baker, and William's brother John, a grocer and baker. William's other younger brother James, also lived in Osgathorpe with his wife Sarah and 3 children and worked as an agricultural worker. ​
